St. Mary’s University College Library is a multi-disciplinary facility that welcomes users from the community. It is located on the campus of St. Mary’s University College, just east from the Fish Creek - Lacombe LRT station, across McLeod Trail.
At St. Mary’s University College Library we help our users learn how to use and navigate their way through our library and the universe of information beyond. If you have problems finding your way around the library or using these resources, the Library staff are available to answer questions or conduct one-on-one reference interviews.
St. Mary’s University College Library can provide community users with a “Community User” library card. This card costs $10.00 per calendar year and provides you with access to a wide variety of materials.
With a “Community User” library card you can access a collection of materials with over 20,000 titles. Do you need to do some fact checking for a personal project? You can consult over 1300 specialized reference tools in subjects that include art, film, literature, religious studies, and sociology. Are you interested in movies? Then you’ll have on-site access to over 1000 videos (VHS & DVD).
PLEASE NOTE: Community borrowers do not have borrowing privileges for multi-media materials & those items which have been placed of general reserves and/or course reserves.
About Electronic Resources
At St. Mary’s University College Library you can search through a large number of online resources, including reference resources, journal collections, and databases. Are you interested in learning about archaeology or science? Or maybe you need to find out statistics about Canada? You can use our science databases or search through Statistics Canada databases. Are you researching a business project? Use our business related databases. Or, if you are a news junky you can access the Globe & Mail archives, or newspapers like the digital editions of the Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, National Post, the Vancouver Sun, and the Windsor Star.
Accessing Electronic Resources
While, all electronic resource are accessible to community users from onsite in the Library, not all of those indexed in the Library's Electronic Resources Directory are accessible remotely/off-campus to community members. Please note that:

icons or both are accessible to all members of the public remotely/off-campus free and without charge. Please note that many of the open access
resources are peer reviewed and of a high academic standard.

St. Mary’s University College Library maintains 7 computers for research purposes. Computer access for community users is available on these terminals via a guest pass.
